Short Shots in the Neville

A very quick post to share that I finally broke down and bought a Neville House from CB2 this weekend. I was purchasing some awesome modern chair ornaments after reading about them on Mini Modern's blog, and decided to go for this petite house. My package arrived so quickly that I was caught off guard and opened it right up (I am famous in my house for not opening packages right away. I like to be left alone when doing so and I am very popular here...Mommy! Do you know what? Mommy!).

This is a fun, well-made tiny house that packs a mod punch. 1:16 or 1:24 scale works best, and you need to practice being nimble since you have to work your furniture through the openings. Check out Mini Modern's original post on the house here, and she also posted on minimodernistas' creation with two!

Anyone else grooving on the Neville?

Credits: Chairs are LISA; table is by Paris Renfroe; globe lamp is minimodernistas; shelving is by Miner Industries; cat and plant are Playmobil, and his bowl is an eBay find; blue glass bottle and rug are dollhouse store finds.

The time it took me: 27 minutes

  1. Lovely! The last shot is my favorite. I experiment with my Neville House from time to time but definitely need to invest in more small scale pieces. I just love this structure.

  3. Love this! You find the best houses! Yes I can understand opening packages alone. I have three littles and even though I want to open the package so bad, I know I will enjoy it even more in solitude ;)

  5. Hey, MC! It is such a cool little house. I like having use for my Miner Industries stuff. Will definitely be coming back to this house for more experimentation. I do like the last photo too, although I was so relieved to get them in there straight that I forgot to accessorize!

  7. Hi, Cowboybunny! Yes, I do enjoy solitude when opening packages, but I need to carve out the time these days! Glad you like this house, and some of my others, too!

  8. Thanks, Smart Deco! One of the main reasons I create these rooms is to fashion an environment that I would like to step into...I try to photograph that way too. A little escapism here and there is a good thing, no? :)

Hi Call Small! I have two of these goodies and I use my 1:18 scale furnishings in them. I do like these well made houses very much and recommend them to those looking for an alternative to roomboxes. These are small and realistic and have lots of possibilities for creativity.

  11. Hiya, Doris! I LOVE what you did with yours -- did you see that I hyperlinked to your photos on Mini Modern's blog? Those really encouraged me to get one. I hope to keep working in this house...and maybe they will create new designs, too!
