Macro


The book cover project has been keeping me very busy these past few weeks, so I have not had much time to play around with my collection. It shouldn't surprise you that I have created a monumental mess as a result of this new endeavor since it entails lots of setups and accessories; I have definitely fallen behind in my mini house-keeping. There's furniture all over the place, tiny cups and saucers, books, shoes, rugs, you name it. To be fair, the mess was out of hand before I started the book cover, but now it has reached crisis proportions!

The chaos gives birth to some progress, though. I bought a new macro lens and flash for my Nikon camera and have been enjoying them.




The flooring is made of pieces broken off a placemat!



Do you ever switch up your equipment to produce different effects? I'd love to hear about your experiences.

    These are really great shots! :D I always use the same camera, but I do sometimes play around in PhotoShop.

      Interesting! I use Picasa but just crop. I also started shooting in raw format, so I have a Nikon program that I use to convert them to JPEGs.

    Wow, these furniture pieces work together perfectly! I'd never heard of PRD Miniatures before and I think I'll have to recreate some of their furniture. Your scene is amazing :)

    Your photos, styling and minis are fantastic. I love the book cover too. And your "weirdo dollshouse stuff" helpers, love it! Look at their faces, sheer delight :D

    Oh I love this room. I'd been wondering if any of the re-ment would work with 1 inch scale, it all looks so large in the pictures on e-bay listings...

      Ahhh, the frustrations of Re-ment!! A lot of Re-ment is best for playscale, or 1:6, but there is a fair amount that works in 1:12. It's trial and error...some sets have larger and smaller pieces too. I actually started a Wiki a few years ago called Mini Sizer: http://mini-sizer.wikispaces.com/. I started it to track what Re-ment works in 1:12. I haven't kept up with it as much, but I encourage people to contribute information. There is also a great group on Flickr for Re-ment collectors: https://www.flickr.com/groups/re-mentaddicts/. It's a wealth of information and members share lots of pictures so you can get some sense of scale. Have fun!
