Vintage German Gone Wild

A nice little vintage German living room set arrived to me last week from eBay, and I felt compelled to set it up against an unexpected backdrop in my Lundby Stockholm. The set is sized closer to 1:16 than 1:12. Here it is in its original box. The overall box is likely missing -- all I have is the base and dust cover.

$3 -- seriously??? I did not pay $3.
I especially LOVE the profile of the chairs and their pattern.

The tapered plant is quite lovely as well, and I don't have one like it. I tried to use only the set in this scene, but did end up adding a few extras.

The wallpaper is from the Paper Source, but I cannot locate it online. The quality is truly amazing. The colors are so crisp and vibrant. I love how the green matches the green of the existing house walls. You might think it would clash with the furnishings and lamp here, but they all "pop out" the way they should. It's a bit of a wild combination, though!

Credits: Chairs, table, plant and bookcase are from a vintage German set; stacked unit is also vintage German; mirror is by Annina; plant stand is AG Minis; rug is by Dale's Dreams on Etsy; lamp is vintage Lundby. Accessories are Michael's and from eBay.

The time it took me: 37 minutes

  3. This turned out looking fantastic! I love the colors you chose. See.... I LOVE this style furniture and such, but all my girls are 1/6, and everything I always see is 1/12 or smaller... where do I find good 1/6???

    1. Hi, Heather! Doris at minimodernistas, Maryann at Welcome Home, and Lene at Dragondee Miniatures are all excellent sources for 1/6 artisan work. Some vintage German pieces may also be adaptable for a 1/6 setting, since they can run larger than 1/12. Happy hunting!!

    1. I wish I did! I am almost positive I bought it at the Paper Source, but I could not find it online. It is possible that I got it at Lee's Art Supply or Kate's Paperie as well. Sorry about that!

  6. Vintage German is my favorite style of dollhouse furniture. You scored a nice set. I love the scene you put together. It reminds me of a corner in the living room I had as a kid, except for the wallpaper. I'm sure if my Mom had discovered that kind of paper she would have loved it, instead our walls were painted turquoise and textured with glitter. Did you get the collection on the German Ebay?

    1. Hi, Karen! I love vintage German from the 50s and 60s as well. I got hooked early on and haven't stopped! I actually bought this set on US eBay, but I certainly have scored sets on German eBay (though not lately). Happy hunting :)

I recently picked up an Instant Dollhouse (like the one you have) and will be blogging about it soon. I'm celebrating 1 year of blogging with 8 miniature giveaways. Giveaway #7 is some modern-style minis. You must join each of the 8 giveaways separately. Welcome! :-) Jennifer
