The small side room in my Lundby Stockholm can be a challenge to furnish and I tend to want to try to use larger scale pieces just to see if I can do it! In the past, I've used the room as a bedroom, bathroom, garage, laundry room, and spa, and this time decided to do a (mini) wet bar.
I used a 1:10 scale table with a dramatic pedestal and a vintage Lundby sink (thanks, Julie!). I paired the sink with a table that was roughly the same height and covered the front with a window shade sample from Lowes (pick up these freebies when you see them; they WILL come in handy!). I was wanting to add a vintage lamp that I got in a joint-purchase with Lemon Cadet, but decided to pull off the shade and flip it upside down for a mod wine chiller.
Thoughts on this? Would you come for a drink? ;)
Credits: Tables are vintage German; sink unit and chairs are vintage Lundby; lights are Re-ment ashtrays flipped; vase and magazines are handmade by The Shopping Sherpa; wine chiller is a vintage lamp shade. Accessories are Mighty World, Bozart, and random dollhouse store finds.
The time it took me: 55 minutes
I'd like to have a drink here!
ReplyDeleteIt looks very inviting and seems to be the right place for taking a rest. Do you have Latte Macchiato there?
The big table works great in that small space. Lots of people make the mistake of using too small furniture in small rooms and they just make the space look smaller. Looks like a fun place for a small get together, I'd like to visit.
ReplyDeleteThe kitchen I kept from my childhood has that same pattern, but most of the doors and drawer fronts are loose now. Hmmm, maybe some restauration is in order?
ReplyDeleteI would definitely come, just to try that cool wine chiller and drink from those glasses, I love them!
Come for a drink? Hell yeah =0)
ReplyDeleteCouldn't help laugh at the gravity defying ashtrays. I know smokers are sort of pariahs these days but making them hang off the ceiling? ;0)
They do work though. They look like modern spotlights. I like it
Yes, please, I would definitely come for a drink! Great idea about flipping the ashtrays to make the task lights. The table is really lovely. And thanks for the tip about freebies from Lowes. :^)
ReplyDeleteHi Lilli! Aha, I should have made room for an espresso machine ;!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mary! I often try to mix scales, and it always surprises me how some pieces manage to fit, like this 1:10 scale table. And I think it helps that the smaller pieces are in back, so they do not look "out-sized!"
ReplyDeleteCome on over, Pubdoll! I do like this Lundby sink and its retro design. I actually had to repair one of the door knobs...thankfully, I did not lose it!
ReplyDeleteHey, Pepper! I was definitely not trying to make some sort of statement with the ashtrays, although it is tricky using them in more contemporary scenes! Those pieces are from a retro room series by Re-ment, so they are "of a time," so to speak! They did the trick for me flipped...wish I could have rigged them somehow with actual light, though.
ReplyDeleteHi Vintage Lundby! Do you like your sink? ;) I LOVE it and I was so glad to use it! Yes, go to Lowes in the window shade aisles and you will see many sample cards with all sorts of designs, textures, etc. I have used them a whole lot as rugs too! :)
